Cleaning the TAE Shield
To extend the lifespan of your TAE Shield, periodic cleaning is recommended. Use only compatible cleaning products and follow the procedures outlined below to minimize the risk of damage.
Instructions
Compatible Cleaning Products:
-
Use mild, non-abrasive household soaps or cleaners recommended by TAE Tactical.
-
For tougher stains, a non-ammonia glass cleaner, such as vinegar or isopropanol, may be used.
-
Pre-Rinse: Rinse the shield with warm water to loosen and wash away surface residue, grit, and grime.
-
Cleaning: Using a soft microfiber cloth or non-abrasive sponge, gently wash the shield with a diluted mild soap or detergent. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm clean water. To prevent water spots, thoroughly dry the shield with a soft, dry cloth.

Important Reminders:

Do not clean under direct sunlight or at elevated temperatures.
-
Avoid using abrasive tools or dry-cleaning methods that may scratch the shield’s surface.

Storage of the TAE Shield
To ensure the TAE Shield’s effectiveness during Close-Quarter Battle (CQB) situations, it is recommended to store the shield attached to the weapon. This arrangement allows for immediate readiness, eliminating the time needed to mount the shield to the weapon during critical moments, such as home invasions. For long-term storage, keep the shield in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated environment, away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity.

Additional Tips:
-
The edges of the TAE Shield are not protected with abrasion-resistant coating. Avoid allowing cleaning solutions to pool along the edges and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
-
Deep scratches cannot be repaired. Surface scratches may be reduced with polishing compounds, but this is not recommended for abrasion-resistant coated products.
